VIDEO, PHOTOS: Snow arrived earlier in Hungary than meteorologists calculated

As we wrote earlier, an Arctic cold front arrived in Hungary this morning. As a result, snowfall started in the Western and Southern regions of the country and some high mountains. Here are some photos and a video.

The snowing was not country-wide but took place in some of the coldest regions of Hungary today. Interestingly, meteorologists forecasted that only for tomorrow.

However, as the live feed broadcasted from Hungary’s highest peak, the KékestetÅ‘ (1,014m), snow has already arrived in Hungary today. Below is the southern ski slope:

According to the Metkép, a Hungarian meteorological Facebook page, snow falls also in the Mecsek Mountains, South Hungary, close to Pécs. And here is a map showing that the cold front sweeps through the southern regions of Hungary:

Meanwhile, the purple saffron was blooming in the botanic garden of Soroksár, Budapest’s 23rd district:
